TRAMPA's Electric Mountain Boards are 'A revolution on the Dirt Board Riding Scene' bringing as much thrill 'Ripping back up the hill' as racing down hill gravity assisted....! YES THAT'S RIGHT... RIPPING BACK UP THE HILL!!! TRAMPA's Electric Mountain Boards have huge performance (some say overpowered!) & more there are more options to purchase from than what you can shake a stick at, but whether you take SINGLE or TWIN Drive, by adding a Large sized Battery & the VESC 6 the performance of single or twin is quite un-believable especially when compared to anything else on the market. TRAMPA Electric Mountain boards are serious bits of kit aimed at adult sized adrenaline junkies & certainly not toys for kids, well not at this stage anyway!
It all depends on where you live and what you hope to ride...... If you intend to ride around on mostly flat ground, gentle off road surfaces, low hills, good surface tracks etc, where it is easy to pick up grip then a single motor board is more than powerful enough, single motor boards are very well priced & much lighter to carry around if you are just commuting but if you intend to mostly ride big stuff or be challenged to make it up steep hills then the twin motor offers you more than double the amount of grip compared to the single motor board but is obviously a much more substantial purchase as you need two Motor Mounts & 2 Motors as well as 2 Batteries & of course two Speed Controller (VESC 6) so owning a twin motor board is very exhilarating but it can get quite expensive and is not always necessary but of course is highly desirable as the thrill of heading up steep hills off road on a board is like riding an off road dirt bike, the performance is seriously that good & i know how it compares because i used to ride off road dirt bikes competitively & honestly comparing the two together is seriously about the only comparison i can think off... like a cross between a snowboard & a Enduro motorbike... AWESOME!!!!
TRAMPA's Electric products are NOT SOLD with batteries. You must resource & fit your own battery to exonerate the Legal responsibilities that TRAMPA BOARDS Ltd would face should TRAMPA BOARDS Ltd supply you with a battery that is powerful enough to cause major problems, should things go wrong! The batteries are firstly very difficult to post, special expensive licenses are needed to ship them & if the batteries are not cared for correctly can explode or cause fire, plus of course they can power the board to over 50 kmh when hooked up in the right sequence which is way faster than any insurance package TRAMPA BOARDS Ltd is assigned too.... you will also need 1 x speed controller for each motor you wish to use (the VESC 6 Out now & for advanced purchases is offered at a discounted price when purchased with a complete E-Board) plus you will need a handheld wireless controllers (of which TRAMPA now offers a few options through the attributes associate dto the product). You will need to purchase all of these items & assemble them together yourself before your board will move!
If you have seriously steep hills that you wish to ride then you will have to consider your gearing and motor combination. It is not possible to have amazingly high top speed and amazing steep hill climbing capabilities, its like a bike & you must gear it accordingly to the terrain to get the most out of what you put in. We make 2 Motors, 118kv & 136kv. With the right battery (12s) the right gearing (15tooth motor pulley for high speed) and the TRAMPA 136kv (High Kv for speed) high quality motor, the combination will take you to 50kmh no problem, (that's scary fast believe me) but this high speed combination is going to struggle up the steep stuff, i mean don't get me wrong it will still ride gentle hills with ease, but if you were to adjust the gearing to 13 Tooth Motor Pulley (highest torque gear) with 12s Battery & the TRAMPA 118kv Motor (low Kv for Torque) with TWIN Motor then the capability of climbing steep hills with all that grunt of torque and 2 wheels of grip will allow you to really climb the steepest of hills you can find... AMAZING!!!
We realise there are many boards in the range & the options to choose from can be a little overwhelming, there is method in the madness as the boards are all groomed for price against performance whilst colour coded with associated names to match... (yeah i know its a little complicated!! lol) So before putting in your inquiry it is worth your while resourcing the difference between the Decks, the Trucks, the Wheels and Bindings, to familiarise yourself with the differences between the parts to help you understand what the differences are between the complete models. Of course we are here to help and give as much guidance as you need but most of the answers these days are found on the site and we are currently being overwhelmed with contact from interested parties its getting difficult to make all the decks and answer all the questions but we are tyring our best so please send in your request ot us :-)
SOME TOP TIPS TO FINISH OFF YOUR DIY BOARD
- To give the TRAMPA 118kv or 136kv top quality motors enough power in the dirt environment we recommend a minimum of 1 x 8s Battery per motor, (LiPo pouches or Li-Ion round cell packs) with High Continuous Discharge Current. Preferably 10-12s batteries should be used for best performance, for example made from 2x 6s quality LiPo packs, 5000mAh each (or more), 25C+ rated, or 8-12S, 2-4P battery pack, spot welded from 18650 round cells, 20A+ continuous discharge per cell (eg. LG INR18650-HG2 3000mAh-20A).
- A Battery Charger with built in BMS (Battery Management System) capable of charging your battery pack configuration. Ideally capable of charging up to 12s batteries. If you split your pack into 6s blocks (or less) a cheap 6s RC LiPo charger will do the job but you will need to charge each Battery separately. A sturdy box, which should be able to close water tight to house your batteries in.
- 1x Electronic Speed Controller (ESC), capable of handling 8-12s, equipped with a proper electronic brake, ideally VESC 6 (VESC 6 available as advanced purchase from TRAMPA NOW - Stock Due 1st August 2017). A 2.4 GHz hand held radio controller (The same used for other brand electric skateboards or RC cars), including the receiver.
- AWG 10 or AWG 12 Silicone cables soldered to XT90s Anti Spark Connectors & a 40-50A Fuse for each drive train/battery. Zip ties, Cable shrink Tube, hook & loop fasteners etc
Constructing Electronic Mountainboards, Urban Carveboards, Street Carverboards, Longboards or Skateboards currently requires electrical knowledge & skills. Messing around with the batteries & chargers, especially when you do not know what you are doing, is very dangerous. Lipo Batteries are dangerous. When mishandled they can explode. Therefor his equipment should never be handled by children & DIY assemblies should not be attempted by people who are not sure of what they are doing... Seek experienced help from guys in the know on the forums, many RC clubs use similar equipment, these guys have a lot of experience in this field & im very sure they would be keen to see some new kit on the market, so reach out to someone close to you & see the forum links below for general guidance, further information & an insight as to how others have completed their personal DIY projects...
