The design brief was simple: minimise speed wobble and provide the rider with a precision steering system. For this we give special thanks to Mr Mark Daniels (formerly of Kitedeck and DE- X) for creating this small but incredible product known as the Trampa Dampa!
The now famous Trampa Dampa has been around for quite some time and has proven to be an essential performance part when creating a high spec ATB. The Trampa Dampa allows riders to custom tune their boards turning and steering ability far greater than ever before.
The Trampa Dampa is a urethane elastomer which fits inside the spring of a truck. Its purpose is to give extra resistance and support the spring during steering. Its design has three balls stacked and connected on-top of each other with the middle ball being slightly fatter than the outer two. This clever design gives a more harmonious and progressive feel to steering
By varying the strength of the Urethane mixture we can control the resistance of the flex of the Dampa which in turn allows the rider to custom tune the resistance of the steering. The unique design of the Trampa Dampa allows for a harder urethane to be used.
The spheres of the Dampa fit perfectly into the cup of the specially made Trampa Spring Retainers inside the Spring of the Trampa Trucks and they instantly start to work with the slightest movement from the rider. The middle sphere is slightly larger and consequently cushions the flex of the smaller two giving greater feed back in your turns and steering. Trampa Dampas work in progressive harmony with the rider, supplying the perfect amount of steering resistance whilst eliminating all chances of speed wobble.
Now available in 5 different steering resistances for every weight or level of rider out there.
65 shore - Yellow - Easy steering
75 shore - Green - Firm Steering
80 shore - Red - Stiff Steering
85 shore - Blue - Very stiff steering
90 Shore - White - Stiffest steering
The Trampa Dampa's are perfect in length and width to slide in and out of the spring easily. The Dampas are then sealed into position by the retainers. Once fitted with the retainers the spring unit can be then be slipped into and out of position very easily by hand, making changing the dampa's extremely simple and easy to do.
Nothing feels like the original Trampa Dampa!
